Let’s clear this up once and for all – hemp is not marijuana.
Hemp might be a kind of cannabis but it bears little resemblance to the recreational and medical cannabis that everyone knows as “marijuana.” Hemp might as well be bamboo – both have long, woody stalks that have a wide variety of uses.
I mean, have you ever heard of anyone smoking hemp? That’s because, as one article explaining the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil put it, “smoking an entire garbage bag full of hemp would not produce an altered state of consciousness, as hemp contains low levels of THC.”
The hemp advocacy group, Hempethics, says, when you think of hemp, think: paper, cloth, building materials, food products, body care products, and bio-fuel. Don’t think stress relief or medicine. Read all about the differences between hemp and marijuana here.
